Born and raised in Queens, NY, the child of Egyptian and German immigrants, Steve Menasche trained in percussion at Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music, earning a BS with a minor in Theatre, and also studied at Manhattan School of Music, Third Street Music Settlement, and American Conservatory Theatre. He toured the world twice over nearly two years, playing in the pit orchestras for Jesus Christ Superstar and West Side Story, and has composed a film score and five albums; he still writes and records music today. He later spent several years working in tech before opening a martial arts school — he holds fifth-degree black belts in Hapkido and Danzan Ryu Jujitsu — which he ran for six years before selling it; he still teaches, when his knees allow. As an actor, he has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with the American Folk Theatre and appeared in national commercials and film, including alongside Lou Ferrigno. He has spent years performing in San Francisco theatre, with credits including Compton's Cafeteria Riot, and has narrated more than 275 audiobooks. He is the author of REAL GOOD and is at work on a second novel, It’s Me. He lives in San Francisco.
